Why We Believe in Muddy Boots and Big Ideas

  • The Landscaper

At Anewalt’s, we believe true growth happens both in the ground and in ourselves.

Whether we’re shaping overgrown spaces or mentoring new team members, it’s the small, consistent efforts that create lasting transformation. Like the proverb says, “it’s the little foxes that spoil the vines.”

That’s why we lead with care, teach with purpose, and build up what matters.

Here’s to a season of growth—inside and out.

Growing Smarter

How to Create the Ultimate Outdoor Living Space

From patios and fire pits to planting beds and pollinator gardens, the best yards strike a balance between structure and softness.

⚒️ Hardscaping is the foundation: patios, retaining walls, walkways, driveways, pools, and more. It gives shape and function to your space.

🌿 Landscaping brings it to life: trees, flowers, turf, and natural features that soften the edges and add beauty season after season.

At Anewalt’s, we specialize in combining the two with thoughtful planning and custom design, whether you’re starting small or building out your dream yard in phases.

Let’s build something beautiful together!

When Hardscape + Landscape Collide

Deeply Rooted

Landscaping is the soft side of the equation: the planting beds, trees, flowers, lawns, and natural features that soften the hard edges and bring beauty and biodiversity to the space.

In early May, we hosted another unforgettable day of Outdoor School and this one had it all!

Our team got hands-on with tree climbing lessons led by Professor Jim Savage of Penn State. Then we participated in a serenity walk and brushed up on tree ID skills in the field.

But as always, the best lessons weren’t just in the curriculum. This session’s surprise medium? MUD! And lots of it! From messy moments to meaningful ones, we wrapped the day with some friendly football passes from former Penn State linebacker Lamar Stewart, who also happens to be Anewalt’s Director of First Impressions. 🏈 💙

We believe in creating space for learning, exploring, and growing together because strong teams are rooted in shared fun experiences.

Where Culture Connects
At Anewalt’s, we find ways to bridge the gaps and come together!
We teach Spanish to English speakers (and vice versa), recognize and celebrate special holidays like Lady of Guadalupe, Cinco de Mayo, and Independence Day, and we welcome all kinds of foods.
Our morning exercises feature both English and Spanish songs, and when we play games at team parties, everyone’s included—no language barriers here!
Recently, Lori sat down with the team for some fun Q&A.
She asked:
What’s Your Favorite Food?
  • Lori: A homemade taco (Mexican) & chivo (Dominican)
  • Augusto: Arroz, habichuelas y carne
  • Jay: Tacos
  • Lamar: Plantains
  • Ernie: Chiles rellenos
  • Shannon: Empanadas and flan (aka “the cake with gravy” 😄)
How Do We Tear Down Cultural Gaps?
  • Augusto: “Familiarizarnos en armonía y respeto” (this means we get to know each other in harmony and respect)
  • Jay: “We have classes!”
  • Lamar: “Spanish and English class”
  • Ernie: “We are bilingual”
  • Shannon: “Language classes”
We’re always looking for great people to join our community: Spanish-speaking, English-speaking, or both.
Follow us to see how we work, grow, and celebrate as one team!

Landscape Legacy

When Dr. Tom and Jeannie Ebersole began building their dream retirement home in Lower Heidelberg 25 years ago, they reached out to us to bring their landscape vision to life.

Tom had known Eddie through their shared love of dirt bike riding, and choosing Anewalt’s for their 20-acre property was a natural decision.

From clearing the wooded lot to installing the lawn, plant beds, paver driveway, and decorative lighting, our team worked closely with the Ebersoles to create a welcoming and beautifully finished landscape. Since then, we’ve continued to care for their property through mowing, fertilization, and seasonal maintenance.

The Ebersoles have shared kind words about the level of service they’ve received—whether it’s our responsiveness, the quality of our work, or the friendly voice of Ruth, now retired, answering the phone.

It’s relationships like this that remind us why we love what we do.

Thank you, Ebersoles, for your continued trust and partnership over the past 30 years. We’re grateful to grow alongside you. 💙
