Our History

It all began...

When a young boy had the desire to mow grass. He started by mowing his grandparents’ lawn in Greenfields and within no time, he was maintaining all of the neighbors’ lawns as well. With the desire for more work year-round, Eddie soon offered snow removal service to the same clients. At age 20 and with 10 years of landscape maintenance under his belt, Eddie officially opened up for business and operated out of his parents’ barn on route 183. He broadened his horizons by earning a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Contracting at Penn State University in 1998. With the know-how, Eddie expanded his business to incorporate landscape design and plant health care. Years later and with an ever expanding business, Eddie pursued more space, purchasing the former Delong’s Garden Center in 2001, where Anewalt´s is currently located. Today, Anewalt’s services over 1,000 clients in Berks and other surrounding counties. Anewalt’s has been beautifying Pennsylvania one yard at a time for well over two decades.

Edward Anewalt, IV., aka Eddie, president of Anewalt’s Landscape Contracting, founded Anewalt’s in 1988. He oversees all daily operations and is instrumental in designing and selling installation projects.  He loves the challenge of diverse Design/Build projects.

Eddie attended Penn State University and earned his B.S. in Landscape Contracting in 1998. He remains very connected with Penn State, speaking and coaching students as needed. Eddie believes in the importance of lifelong education and instills this in his staff members. Eddie is vice-president of the Berks Home Builders Association. In 2006, Eddie was awarded the Green Achiever Award from PLNA for which recognizes an individual in the horticulture industry whom is an upcoming leader within PLNA and the industry.  For years, he was a board member of the Pennsylvania Landscape and Nursery Association (PLNA). He has been a part of PLNA’s Professional Development Committee for the past decade and chaired the annual conference committee.

Outside of landscaping, Eddie spends quality time with his wife, Lori, and their beautiful children, Lucía and Cisco. Together, they enjoy hiking, traveling and skiing.  Eddie is also an avid motocross racer and competes in District 6 races.
